Fun with mumOpened in 1980, the Hale Nursery occupies the purpose-built P.J. Davis Community Centre. We welcome children aged from 0 to 5 and provide them with a nurturing, loving and happy environment.

We offer full or sessional day-care from 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Thursday throughout the year, and Friday mornings in the winter and until 4.00pm in the summer, closing only for the Jewish festivals. The children enjoy a kosher dairy lunch and healthy snacks throughout the day.

Nursery

Our enthusiastic team of trained and qualified nursery nannies and qualified teaching staff, led by Pauline Newton, look after every aspect of each child’s development. The warm, family-style atmosphere in which the children play and learn helps to instil confidence and encourage the development of key social skills.

The Nursery was designed with bright airy rooms and an enclosed outdoor play space, plus a dedicated baby room. Every area is well-equipped to provide stimulation for semi-structured play and learning – both crucial ingredients for pre-schoolers.

Frequent visits by
Rabbi Joel and Rebetzin Ruthie Portnoy help to enhance our innovative Jewish education programme, with the Shabbat Party each Friday as a popular highlight. We work closely with Ofsted and follow the Government’s Early Years Foundation stage curriculum, which is seamlessly combined with Jewish topics.

Fun with Mum

NurseryOur growing community has devoted careful thought to the needs of its youngest members and has developed stimulating and enjoyable programmes for all ages on Shabbat and during the week.

Fun With MumThe Fun with Mum group is designed for mothers and children aged 0-4 and meets every fortnight in the Shule, coordinated by Rebetzin Ruthie Portnoy and Pauline Newton. We enjoy soft play facilities, arts and crafts activities, and singing Jewish songs with children from the Hale Nursery, which also enables new mums to visit their facilities. In the summer we arrange outings to parks and attractions in the area.
