Youth Activities

With two dynamic Youth Leaders – Avner and Sarah Brodie - and a Rabbi and Rebetzin who are approachable and family-orientated, Hale is one of the best communities for bringing up thoughtful and motivated Jewish teenagers.

Hale Youth Minyan
Kids in Hale come to Shule on Shabbat because it is fun! Not only can they meet up with their friends from different schools and catch up on the latest developments in each other’s lives, but they can indulge in amazing gastro-themed Kiddushim after the service. Twice a month, this feast may feature Chinese food, Chicken, Chocolate or other exotic delicacies – it is always worth getting out of bed to enjoy! Food for the body is combined with stimulating food for thought, with a presentation or discussion by the Youth Leaders on a Jewish theme. This programme attracts up to 70 teens.

Youth Shabbaton
The annual residential Shabbaton for 13-18 year olds from Hale is the envy of teens from other communities! Rabbi Joel and Ruthie Portnoy and a team of Youth Leaders lead a fun-packed weekend of outdoor activities (quad-biking, hot air ballooning and more) combined with opportunities to learn about Judaism in a relaxed and informal environment.
